They provide a screen and buffer from the Bristol/Exeter main railway line to the properties located on Clarks Road. Although there are some minor defects evident ie leaf minor and perhaps some very early signs of bleeding canker the trees are in a fair condition for their age. There are no justifiable reasons for their removal on health and safety grounds. At the time of inspection the trees appeared to be stable at the root with no significant signs of decay. It is considered that these 3 trees can be retained in their position by undertaking appropriate arboricultural management, 08/11/00009 Consent to pollard to approx 3 metres 1No Horse Chestnut marked 013180, Pollard to approx 2 metres 1No Horse Chestnut marked 013181, Pollard to approx 1.5 metres 1No Horse Chestnut marked 013182, all in G1. Plant 3 small ornamental trees such as Amelanchier Lamarkii granted 04/03/2011 08/19/00143 - Crown lift to 3m above ground level, reducing lateral growth by 1-2m of 3 No. horse chestnut trees within group G1. 24/10/2019 08/21/00063 - Consent granted to TPO tree group (G1) (various species) works where applicable: Crown lift to 3m from ground level & reduce branching laterals by 1-2m. Adjacent station (east) platform on 07/10/2021. Consent granted by JAB on 17/05/2023 to remove some of lower branches of the Horse Chestnuts in G1 under health and safety grounds to enable access for a site survey to be carried out.
