T / 1 Individual Tree Ash Mature 12 13 27/05/1999 Some dead wood evident in the crown but still a fairly vigorous tree. FILE NOTE: Compton Bishop (NO.5) 1997 T1 Ash Tree. Following information received by email re possible unauthorised tree works Colin Arnold and Janette Burton undertook an inspection of the ash tree (T1) on the 18 February 2016. It was noted that several limbs had been removed. It would appear this work was not authorised although the landowner has claimed that the branches had become dangerous and were hanging. He employed a tree surgeon (possibly Julien Yates) to undertake the works. At the site visit it was noted that recent excavations had been carried out at the base of the tree to allow for fence posts to be erected in close proximity to the trunk. The landowner was advised that this work had caused some root damage and that any fencing /excavations should not be carried out in this area. Soil levels had also been raised and it was agreed that these should be reduced back to existing ground levels. JB and CA to carry out a further site inspection next week to ensure that works had been carried out in respect of re-establishing existing ground levels. JB also to contact Julian Yates to establish whether or not he carried out the recent pruning works. 19-02-16
