T / 2 Individual Tree Horse Chestnut Mature 13 23 14/12/2010 T2 Horse Chestnut situated on front boundary of paddock is in good condition meeting held on 8th June 2010 attended by JAB and Somerset County Council’s Arboricultural Officer, Mr Scriven. The condition of the horse chestnut (T2) was assessed and it was noted that the tree is in decline, particularly on the northern side of the tree where at least 25% of the crown has died and there is also evidence of some die back in the upper canopy. . Mr Scriven has confirmed that the tree is certainly in decline, unlikely to recover and that it is likely that the condition of the tree will deteriorate further over the next few years. In order to manage the decline of the tree it is recommended that the dead wood is removed on the northern side at this current time and to monitor the tree until it reaches a condition that necessitates its removal. As the tree is now categorised as dying a formal application to undertake pruning is not required for the management of the tree. 17/12/2013 Landowner advised replacement Horse Chestnut planted in same position. A Platanus Hispanica has been planted as a replacement - it was planted in December 2019.
