The existing garage is of traditional proportions/design and materials for its location being finished in brick with a tiled ridged roof. The proposed flat roofed extension would be bulky in nature, due to its size and form, would be finished in materials that would be alien to the natural brick and double roman tiles that characterises the existing garage and would therefore have an adverse impact on the character of the existing building as well as the character of the Area. As such, the proposal is contrary to Policy D2 of Sedgemoor's Adopted Core Strategy.
