By virture of the conservatory's scale, design, materials and position on the prominent front elevation, the proposal will not reflect the intrinsic character and appearance of the existing dwelling and wider street scene. The front elevation of the property displays a pleasing, symmetrical character, which positively contributes to the immediate area and the proposed conservatory will have a detrimental impact on the existing appearance of the dwelling by occupying more than half the front elevation and through the use of white UPVC materials, which are in conflict with the more traditional fenestration of the existing dwelling. The proposal is therefore contrary to Policy D2 of the Sedgemoor District Core Strategy and Policy D2 of the emerging Sedgemoor District Local Plan.
