The site is located to the north of Cannington, outside of the settlement boundary in an area that is rural in nature and some distance from the buildings to the east and adjacent to open to fields to the north. By virtue of its detached nature from the existing built form of the village and the distance between the site and the buildings to the east, the site is not physically well related to the village and nor is it considered 'in-fill'. The proposed development would represent an unsustainable form of development and therefore would be contrary to Policies S2, D9, CO1 and C02 of the Sedgemoor District Local Plan.
