It has not been demonstrated that the development would maintain a sufficient level of sunlight to the solar panels on the adjacent property such that their ability to generate low carbon electricity would not be significantly undermined. Accordingly, the proposal would fail to allow the maximisation of energy from renewable resources on the adjacent site and would not be within the best interests of tackling climate change through the transition to low carbon energy by virtue of reducing the effectiveness of the existing solar panels. As such the proposal is contrary to policies S4 and D4 of the Sedgemoor Local Plan and Section 14 of the National Planning Policy Framework.
